Blithe Babble: A Hollywood Tale

When I think of Randy Jay Burrell I think of tequila shots off of spoons. Why you may ask? When I was a senior in high school, age 18, I was dating a guy named Matt who happened to be Randy's roommate and life long best friend. Randy and I instantly clicked and have been good friends ever since. I brought over photos from a modeling photo shoot and I needed help picking the best ones for my new comp card, so we decided to take shots of tequila off of spoons to get our creative juices flowing. Since then we have shared crazy intertwined Hollywood experiences, both being cast in two of the same films and even co-writing screenplays together. We have been through the major ups and downs of life together from celebrating our career highs and lows to heartbreaks and losing loved ones. Randy is and always has been a good egg. A very talented egg that is what we call a "triple threat".

BB: You're an actor, writer, musician and producer. How do you juggle it all?

RJB: I wouldn’t say it’s easy juggling all things, but being a creative person I do try to find time for all because I enjoy doing each separately. For me personally, I just go with the inspiration and sometimes that allows me to combine my talents. However, I never lose focus on the main objective and what makes me the most profit.

BB: Do you have any crazy pre-performance rituals?

RJB: For acting I like to look in the mirror and warm up my vocals with different exercises, I also rehearse my lines to the point where I don’t recognize myself anymore if the role so calls for it. For music performances, two shots of whiskey always does the trick.

BB: If you could erase any project off your IMDB account, what would it be?

RJB: Haha Oh man there are definitely a couple, but I’d go with Beyond the Trophy!

BB: If you could work with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

RJB: It would be extremely hard for me to narrow it down to just one, as there are so many talented people in the industry that inspire me. I truly have wanted to work with Kevin Costner for a long time now, for multiple reasons. With him being a writer, director and Actor like myself inspires me, plus I wrote the perfect role for him in my Vietnam film.

BB: Shag, Marry, Kill: Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie, Emilia Clarke

RJB: Haha ok.... Shag: Margot Robbie, Marry: Emilia Clark, Kill: Natalie Portman

BB: What are the top 3 things about being in the industry?

RJB: Well the #1 for me is being able to do what I love, which is performing. #2 the randomness of it, like who I meet on sets, the kinds of jobs I book, basically I’m always experiencing and doing something new, which I love. #3 honestly is a love hate kind of thing, but the grind of getting work and then finally booking a job. It’s kept me humble yet booking a job I really want is so rewarding at the same time.

BB: What are the top 3 worst things about being in the industry?

RJB: First is the grind for sure! Like I said before it’s a love hate thing with me. But when the bookings are scarce, I truly do despise the grind of getting work in the industry. Next, the fake people, oh so often do you come across talkers that promise the world only to do nothing for you. Plus the people that are just trying to use you and your connections. Lastly, the constant rejection

BB: What is something no one knows about you?

RJB: Some know but most do not, I’m a low key nerd that loves comics and video games. I’m the coolest nerd you know.

BB: What projects are you currently working on?

RJB: I’ve been working on Fox’s new show 911 off and on the past month. But my focus is my new superhero action comedy pilot that I wrote and will be starring in. We begin shooting in 2 months. The Unlikely Hero, stay tuned.

BB: What was it like working with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller on War Dogs?

RJB: Jonah Hill was awesome, super fun to work with. I look forward to our next project together. Miles Teller on the other hand is truly a shitty individual and I'm hoping our paths don't cross again.

BB: If you weren't in this industry, what other career would you be doing?

RJB: Hmm I’d probably be the president.

BB: If you could do a love scene with anyone, who would it be?

RJB: Honestly loves scenes are still just work, and I don’t really have a celebrity crush, so I have no good answer for that one.

BB: What is a dream project you would love to work on?

RJB: Any leading superhero role for Marvel!

BB: Favorite sport and sports team?

RJB: Easy. Football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But I have to mention the Orlando Magic for basketball.
